Pashupati Nath Temple

Nepal, with the varieties of socio cultural aspects is very famous because of the cultural heritages that are listed in UNESCO. One of those is Pashupatinath Temple which is situated 4 km away in North-East of Kathmandu. Pashupatinath Temple is a sacred place for hindu devotees,
Especially, Hindus visit this temple to worship the respected god Shiva. It is very popular among Nepal and other neighbouring country. According to the history, it was established by the king Prachandra and the goldenroof was made many years of its renovation by the king Pashupuspa. In the very begining the kings of Lichivi dynasty had laid down Shiva ling into this temple. The Malla Kings also preserved and promoted this temple. It has been said that a cow, our national animal was giving milk in a certain spot without being forced. Then the caretaker of the cow being amazed dug out the place. To his amazement he found Shiva LInga and knew why cow was giving milk. Since, that time it has been preserved by Lichhavi and Malla Kings. It also has been said that when Shiva and Parbati were visiting in Shleshmantak Ban taking the incarnation of deer, other god and Goddesses saw and called Pashupatinath. So it was named as pashupatinath Temple.
Pashupatinath is a distinct place where Hindus along with Buddhist and people of other religion visit this holy temple. Everyday a number of devotees worship this God. This temple is a dear presentation of our ancient culture nad religion. On the day of Ekadashi and Purnima, the multitude of Religious people increse in comparision to other days. Where, many religious people even from far place come to pray God on Shivaratri and Balachaturdashi.
The doors are guilded by silver. There are numbers of Gods and Goddesses in this area like Bhairav, Ananta Narayan, Kageswori, Yama Rajj and Ganesh temples. In this area, the oldest idol of Nepal, Birupakshya has also found. There is a big idol of bull in front of Pashupatinath temple. Bull is recognized as the conveniance of lord Shiva. But is has increased the beauty of the area.
Today also, the belief of Hindu towards lord Shiva has not been decreased the same number of devotees come here everyday. But nowadays, the surrounding temples has been dirtier. People dispose garbage near of the area.
People have made drainage system with the river water that has made river pollution, thus well managed drainage system should be provided from the Government side. But, Government should be aware about the importance of Bagmati river too. This temple is renovated by the Pashupati Trusteeship Council.
